Purification and Characterization of High Purity Nano Zirconia by Liquid-Liquid Extraction Using D2EHPA/p-Xylenes

In this paper, Zr(IV) nitrate solution decomposed from Viet Nam zircon concentrate was the source of zirconium extraction by liquid-liquid (L.L.E). The FT-IR and UV-Vis spectra confirmed D2EHPA/p-xylenes. There were four stages for purification impurities Zr matrix. First, elements in 3.0 M HNO3 50% D2EHPA/p-xylenes conducted. Second, two scrubbing cycles using 6.0 HNO3, 76.5% total amount retained organic phase, 23.5% remained aqueous phase. Third, stripping a macro loaded D2EHPA has been effectively carried out 1.5 H2SO4 with efficiency 99.6%. Fourth, concentrated ammonia added to after form precipitate calcination at 550 °C final products. refined products characterized X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission (TEM), EDS, XRF, diffuse reflectance spectroscopy. ZrO2 high purity, is nanospherical, uniform sphere-like morphology small grain size less than 30 nm bandgap value about 3.30 eV.
